Michaela Hewitt-Clarke (she/her) is a dancer and choreographer currently based in Annapolis, Maryland. She began training in ballet at the age of three at the Jones Haywood School of Dance in Washington DC, and integrated other styles of dance such as contemporary, jazz, modern, lyrical, hip hop, and musical theater into her training at age 11 with the Anne Arundel County Public Schools Dance Program.
Michaela attends St. Mary's College of Maryland (SMCM), where she will earn her Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy with a Minor in Political Science in May 2024. During her time at St Mary's, Michaela was heavily involved with the dance department. She played a role in advocating for more performance opportunities and resources for fellow performers on campus, teaching dance classes both for the department and for the dance company.
As a dance teacher, Michaela was a Dance Teaching Assistant under Professor Donna Jordan for 2 years. Throughout her time, she gained valuable teaching experience at the collegiate level, as well as leadership skills both as a teaching assistant and as president of the SMCM Dance company. As a choreographer, Michaela choreographed for the SMCM Dance Company for 3 years, choreographing group dances in contemporary, modern, jazz, and musical theater styles. She also choreographed the SMCM Theater Department Student Show Chosen Family Values, with jazz and contemporary dance pieces for the production. You can find her work on the Portfolio section of this website.
Michaela is excited to take the next steps in her dance career including performing, choreographing dance pieces, and teaching classes (including workshops and masterclasses).
